HI! I’M SAM.
I am a graphic designer and art director that specializes in technically correct files, figuring things out, and caring about people. A pragmatic thinker that can effortlessly balance making design dreams come true with what is practical; collaboration, communication, and curiosity are key components of what I do. Focus areas include luxury packaging, custom illustration, and people management.
An important part of my career history are the thirteen years I spent at Studio on Fire, a bustling design and impression-based printing studio. I was with the business as it grew from 6 to 36 people, first as designer and eventually as creative manager. My role encompassed many areas over the years including pre-press, client services and HR; but the thing I loved most was designing with a team of talented colleagues.
A former AIGA Minnesota board member and adjunct faculty at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, I truly give a shit about the design community. A rising tide lifts all boats, my friends.
When not frolicking in the world of design you can find me hanging with my dogs, sewing my latest quilt, and rewatching TV shows I’ve already seen dozens of times.
